The Trevor Project – Youth Support & Crisis Line

  • Who they are: A lifeline for 2SLGBTQIA+ young people (under 25). Their trained counselors truly understand the unique challenges you might face.

  • What they offer: Immediate, confidential support 24/7, every day of the year, from anywhere in the U.S. They will listen without judgment, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

LGBT National Hotline

  • Who they are: A confidential, safe space for callers of any age to talk about sexual orientation or gender identity/expression issues.

  • What they offer: Support on a wide range of topics including coming out, relationship concerns, bullying, workplace issues, HIV/AIDS anxiety, safer sex information, or any other topic on your mind. They prioritize your safety and will not report calls to outside agencies or call 911 on your behalf.

  • Hours: Monday - Friday: 12 PM - 9 PM Mountain Time; Saturday: 10 AM - 3 PM Mountain Time. If you can't get through, all volunteers are busy – please try back in a few minutes.

Trans Lifeline

  • Who they are: A vital resource providing trans peer support for our community. They are run by and for trans people, focused on offering community-based crisis support without involving law enforcement.

  • What they offer: A safe space for trans and gender-diverse individuals to connect with peers who understand. Their focus is on support that is divested from police.

National Crisis Text Line

  • Who they are: A service that connects you with a volunteer Crisis Counselor quickly.

  • What they offer: Immediate, text-based support for any type of crisis. It's a discreet way to get help when you need to talk.

Finding Community & Peer Support

Sometimes, connecting with others who share similar experiences can be incredibly healing and helpful. Support groups offer a safe space to share, listen, and grow together. They can be more affordable than individual therapy, and some peer-to-peer groups are even free.

  • Hey Peers: A great option for finding a wide variety of virtual peer support groups on various topics from the comfort of your home. https://www.heypeers.com/

  • PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays): Many local chapters (including in Colorado Springs, Boulder, etc.) offer support groups for parents, family members, or caretakers of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as for community members. https://pflag.org/

  • Prism Community Collective (Colorado Springs, CO): A survivor- and community-led center offering peer support, mental and physical health provider directories, and safe spaces for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the Pikes Peak Region. https://cosprismcollective.org/

  • Queer Asterisks: Provides accessible counseling, education, and community programs, including various virtual and in-person peer groups for the queer and trans community. https://queerasterisk.com/

  • Rocky Mountain Equality (Boulder, CO): Connects members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to health care resources and provides peer support programs, with weekly drop-in hours at their Boulder Pridehouse. https://www.rmequality.org/

  • Southern Colorado Harm Reduction Association (Pueblo, CO): Offers LGBTQ+ programs including youth resource days and youth groups, focused on harm reduction approaches tailored to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. https://www.socoharmreduction.org/lgbtq-programs/

  • The Center on Colfax (Denver, CO): As the largest 2SLGBTQIA+ community center in the Rocky Mountain region, The Center offers a wide variety of support groups, including peer support for adults (18+), specific groups for older adults (West of 50), and Rainbow Alley for youth (10-17). https://lgbtqcolorado.org/

  • TransFamily Support Group (Chaffee County): A local support group that inspires hope and increases understanding, providing a space for families and caregivers of trans and gender-diverse children to share experiences and resources.
