Mark and Jimmy of the PfCA pose with Denise Ackert, whose Mindfulness in the Jail program won the Big Check of $430 at Salida Soup 49 on August 15th.

In yet another “and then there were two” Soup twist, diners had to choose between just 2 presenters: Denise Ackert’s Mindfulness in the Jail program came out the winner, with Shelley Schreiner’s Planned Parenthood plea coming in a very close second.
Full Circle Recycling, the third presenter, was unable to attend.
The Mindfulness program brings meditation and yoga practices to those currently in the Chaffee County jail, using a book about emotional intelligence titled “The Path of Freedom.” The winnings will go to help the team of people working with those individuals to continue their programs throughout the rest of the year.
The next Salida Soup will be Thursday, September 19th. Doors open at the Steamplant Ballroom at 6 p.m.
