As usual, it was an amazing trio of organizations and individuals that hoped to win the Soup Pot, but it was the Friends of Salida Skateparks pitch that wowed the diners enough to secure them the win, just nudging past the Aerial Silks Community Film Shoot and Theater in NonTraditional Spaces (TINTS) presentations.

Lauren Brown talked about her daughter Erin Brown Thomas’ project of shooting a short film called HUMAN in downtown Salida. The film features aerial silks and (hopefully) a cast of at least 300! Steve Kucera presented on behalf of the TINTS crew, who were in the throes of event prepping, and talked about the unique concept of bringing small, beautifully-written and rendered plays to smaller and unexpected venues.

The Friends of Salida Skateparks pulled out all the stops, with cute kids and their decks on stage next to folks who grew up skating in the bowl at 1st and G. The well-informed plea struck a chord with many diners, and the group won the combined total of $670.

May’s Soup isn’t a Soup at all - it’s a Pint!
Salida Brew will be happening on Thursday May 16th at Soulcraft Brewing - same times (doors at 6, dinner at 6:30, presentations at 7). This month’s food category is Happy Hour Classics! It is a bar food potluck - wings, chips and dips, sliders, the works! We have 3 great presenters that are hoping to take home the winnings - who will it be?!

See you there!
