Despite an unexpected venue change and lower attendance than usual, the Third Anniversary Salida Soup (#37!) was a great success, garnering SPS/PfCA's weekly Teen Night the winnings!
Due to a scheduling overlap and mixup at the SteamPlant, the Soup had to move to a space able to accommodate both diners and speakers, as well as a place to cook the soup itself. Many thanks to Seasons Cafe for stepping in and letting us cobble together a memorable Soup for about 30 diners. The two other presenters, The Triangle Oasis and the Salida Stiltwalker Project, were compelling and informative, but the diners felt that their donations would be best suited to support a safe, inclusive, bullying- and drug-free space weekly for our teens here in Salida.
Many thanks to all who came and voted, to the Seasons staff who stayed to help (thanks for that margarita, Shelly!), and to Seasons owners' Julie & Kristofer, for believing that community is about heart, and food is about community.
The next Salida Soup will be July 19, back at the Salida SteamPlant Ballroom. Visit salidasoup.org for details.
