SMCS Scares Up a MONSTER of a win at Spooky Soup!

Salida Montessori Charter School students pose with the Big Soup Check after their win at Spooky Soup. They asked nicely, so we let them keep the big check. No, really.

Salida Soup 41, also know as Spooky Soup, was an absolute madhouse of positive energy, delicious food, and amazing generosity the night of October 18th. Three awesome local agencies braved the scary darkness of an autumn night to present. The Salida Montessori Charter School kicked the show off with a heartfelt plea for a teaching and learning space outdoors, with the Children’s House kids (dressed as farmers and pollinators, of course) singing a super-cute rendition of “Inch by Inch”.
It was a hard act to follow, but the other two presenters - elevateHER Outdoor Adventures & Wellness, and the Chipeta Mountain Project’s Mountain Heritage Park on Tenderfoot Mountain, gave it their best shot. Alas, it wasn’t enough to convince the diners to support their programs, and the Montessori Garden won the largest pot in Salida Soup history: $1256.00 (including the additional $250 in donated funds)!

Many thanks to Soup volunteers Ken, Clara, Ray, Diane, and Lizzie, for helping to keep the Soup as alive and full of passion as when it started. You are stars!

Join us for Salida Soup: Let’s Give Thanks! on Thursday, November 15 - this is another exciting themed Soup: past winners from the last year are invited back to catch us up on their programs, and to try to win some more money! Diners vote with Soup Bucks for as many past winners as they’d like - the one with the most Soup Bucks in their bag wins that money, PLUS the additional $250 donated funds! It is always a wonderful event - don’t miss it!
