The brand-new Salida chapter of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) walked away with the Soup pot on September 21. Diners found the group’s presentation compelling and timely, and awarded them the pot totaling $459.25, which they will use towards operating expenses and community outreach.
Founded in 1972 by the mother of a gay man, PFLAG’s membership of LGBTQIA people, families, and allies have embraced each other and people whose communities are often marginalized, erased, or ignored.
Chapter President Shannon Nelson reminded the diners that the next PFLAG meeting would be Thursday, October 12, at Sellars Project Space, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
