The Farmer's Market
Salida & Buena Visita

Seasonal: Open June through October
The Buena Vista Farmer's Market is open Fridays from 3 - 7 p.m. in the South Main Town Square. This park is located in the new South Main development along the Arkansas River.

The Salida Farmer's Market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Alpine Park. Alpine Park is located in downtown Salida between 4th and 5th Streets and E and F Streets. 

Bats at the Old Orient Mine
San Luis Valley

Seasonal: Late June/Early July - September

Take a hike to the historic Orient Mine in the San Luis Valley (35-45 minutes from Salida) and watch the Brazilian Free-Tail Bats (aka Mexican Free-tail Bats) as they leave in the evening to feed. Some 250,000 roost in the historic Orient Mine every Summer as part of their migration. This mostly male migration starts as far south as South America, gathering numbers as it flies north with small wings.
